An air conditioner is a device which is used mainly
for cooling rooms. These devices use chemicals which can easily condense into a
liquid and back again. This chemicals are used to remove excess heat inside a room
to the outside the room.
Air conditioner is made up of three components. They
are a condenser, compressor and evaporator. The condenser and compressor are
found on the outside part of the air conditioner. The evaporator is always
located on the rooms

The compressor acts as the motor of the system and
usually located in between the condenser and evaporator. The compressor
functions when the appliance is set to be the cooling point and the thermostat
adjusted for the low temperatures. The main functions of the compressor is to
compress the gases from reasonably low to
high pressures which can be easily cooled to liquid before it is brought to the condenser.
The condenser consists of series of tubes which has
fins attached to it, usually located at rear of the unit. The refrigerant
liquid gives away the heat and this heat is removed through the fins.

The evaporator forms the front part of the air
conditioner and has some cooling fins. From the condenser the refrigerant
liquid is passed onto the evaporator where it is expanded back into a gas. This
gas will absorb the heat and cooling is achieved.
