Tell us about yourself

An explanatory essay about oneself

 Hello Sir/Madam,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for giving me this opportunity to introduce myself in front of you.

My name is Ashok. I'm born and brought up in Chennai.

I have completed B.Sc. & M.Sc. Statistics at Presidency College in
Chennai. I did my schooling at Aligner Anna Government Higher Secondary School in Chennai itself.

I have work experience of 3.5 years as Contract employee from Tata Consultancy Services limited company.

My simplicity and punctuality is my great strength I have a friendly nature.

My weakness is I quickly believe in any to any other person.

About my family there are 4 members in my family excluding my father. My father passed away 20 years ago, my mother is house maker and doing clothes ironing job, my sister got married and brother is working in a private company as a fieldwork officer.

My goal is to be a respectable position in a reputed organization.

My hobbies are watching movies, swimming and playing cricket.

That's all about me.

Thank you Sir/Madam.

Remember throughout your answer to focus on the experiences and skills that are going to be most relevant to your employer when they’re thinking about this particular position and this company. And ultimately, don’t be afraid to relax a little bit, tell stories and anecdotes—the interviewer already have predefined expectations from you.

The secret to responding to this free-form request successfully is to focus, script and practice. Begin to think about what you want the interviewer to know about you.
Focus-List five strengths you have that are pertinent to this job (experiences, traits, skills, etc.). What do you want the clients to know about you when you leave?
E.g., I am strong in communications and connecting with people. I have a strong background and proven success with customer relationships. I pride myself on her reputation for meeting deadlines.
Scripting-Prepare a script that includes the information you want to convey. Begin by talking about past experiences and proven success:
Next, mention your strengths and abilities:
"My real strength is my attention to detail. I pride myself on my reputation for following through and meeting deadlines. When I commit to doing something, I make sure it gets done, and on time."
Conclude with a statement about your current situation:
"What I am looking for now is a company that values customer relations, where I can join a strong team and have a positive impact on customer retention and sales."
Practice
Practice with your script until you feel confident about what you want to emphasize in your statement. Your script should help you stay on track, but you shouldn't memorize it -- you don't want to sound stiff and rehearsed. It should sound natural and conversational.

  • Focus on what most interests the interviewer
  • Highlight your most important accomplishments

Moreover one can include strengths and weaknesses e.g.
My short term goal is to get a job in a good company like yours and my long term goal is to work hard to reach a respectable position in the company.

My strengths are optimism so I would always look to take positive side of the life. I am a calm and cool person, quick learner and I believe in hard work.

My weakness are as I believe in accuracy I take a little time to take decisions. And sometimes I forget the names of the persons but I don't forget them. I have been trying to overcome my weakness through suitable remedies.

Well, I’m currently an account executive at Smith, where I handle our top performing client. Before that, I worked at an agency where I was on three different major national healthcare brands. And while I really enjoyed the work that I did, I’d love the chance to dig in much deeper with one specific healthcare company, which is why I’m so excited about this opportunity with Metro Health Center.”
