Behaviorism and Cognitivism PSYC 305 History & Systems of Psychology

Abstract
The origins of behaviorism and cognitive theory can be traced back to the ancient Greek periods and are aligned with such philosophers as Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.  Psychology has adopted their theories and developed
them into current practices of assisting to understand why humans act the way they do and how they develop and learn.  These theories have also facilitated the development of many different treatments and therapies for numerous types of mental disorders.  They have also adapted the way children are raised and how their actions are interpreted.  One of the most important facets of the field of psychology is the way it was founded and the ability to adapt and change as new concepts are adapted.  This paper will cover the origins of both theories and how they have advanced to their current status.
