The Circle by Dave Eggers Novel Analysis

The Circle is a novel that begins with an ever quickening narrative flow. Mae’s first day answering online questions, she is expected to score more high on continuation surveys. Mae supervises a group of newbies in the company by her second week (Eggers 10). In a months’ time she stays late night in the company posting things about the company in the company’s social media networks this is because she kept being criticized because her participation rank in the social media networks were low (Eggers 30).

The novel comes with an optimistic aspect as it is observed through the character of Mae. This is seen when Mae maintains this aspect when she submits to the Circle’s progressively aggressive demands (Eggers 190). Her imprudent side drives her to taking astonishing risks. This is seen when one of her co-worker records their wine soaked sexual meeting. This leads Mae getting into a relationship with a man who calls himself Kalden. The whole book comes with a big opportunity that Mae finds herself in working in a big and powerful internet company. All she sees is the big opportunity to make her dreams come true (Eggers 309).
The book also comes with the moral aspect of the Circle. The book shows the importance of the internet to the society and how the social media can transform people. The urge for Mae to stay late hours posting things in the social networks is a big opportunity for her as she sees it as a lifetime opportunity working in a big internet company. The Circle transforms Mae from a girl to a woman; meeting with prominent people makes her realize how important she is in the company (Eggers 397).
