Barrack Obama Tucson Memorial speech

Barrack Obamas Tucson memorial speech came when the whole country experienced one of the deadly shooting attacks by a gunman on a group of people killing six of them including a congressional representative, Gabrielle Giffords, who wanted to get views from her constituents so that she could air them in the Congress. Obama had to use this
speech to improve on his political rating that had gone down. He delivered his speech very well and managed to bring together his critics and supporters. This speech helped bring together Americans who were mourning the death of six innocent people.
He represented his office well by drawing to the attention of the public that the attack was not politically motivated as some critics had alleged. He connected with the audience by avoiding use of teleprompter in that speech. He focused on the victims more than the blame game. He was able to focus on what the nation needed to do and even recognized the contributions  each victim, both deceased and those admitted in the hospital, had made for the nation.
He brought himself out as a president who cared for all the Americans and was concerned with the efforts each one of them put to alleviate the livelihood of others by telling fellow mourners what each victim did for the nation and their final act of selflessness. The only mistakes the president did was to make his speech too long for the event and although he used a solemn tone, he did not bring out emotions to the level required for this incident (Washington post company, 2011).
Miracle Herb Brooks Locker Room Speech
Coach Herb Brooks led Lake Placid a hockey team in the United States to battle it out with the world champions team from Russia.  While the coachs speech can be viewed as harsh, it is motivational to the team and the coach was stressing to the team that there was no other option than to win. Being a coach for a long time, he had to exert more pressure to the team members to win. He appeared to be the best critic and supporter of the team and with the harsh tone; he wanted to drive home the point to the team members.
By stating that great moments are born from the opportunities presented, and pressing to them, they had to beat their rivals, this gave the speech a more serious attitude. He used words that resonated with his team full of young players.  His use of epideictic tone in the speech drove the message home, as he sounded highly skilled in this field. By moving around the room, he wanted to demonstrate how the win was important not only to the team but also to the country considering it was an Olympic game (Masters Channel).
