how confidential is your health information?
health information confidentiality essay
An
in-service program to train the employees of the health care facility would
basically be a part time three month program carried by hired professionals
from a recognized medical and law firm. Firstly I would consider all medical
staff appropriate for the program and recommend a clear and defined process for
learning and evaluation
of the whole program. This program would be offered on
an hourly basis for two sessions in a day for the staff who work on day basis
and night shift too. All staff would be required to attend a minimum of thirty
hours out of the thirty five hours scheduled.
After
the training I would then gather all the staff as it pertains to
representatives of the whole medical facility to gather and draft a
confidentiality policy relevant to the governing laws and suitable for our
medical facility, therein all staff would be asked to recommend favorable
procedures and practices within the legality of the state. The management would recommend and approve
procedures for breach of contract and penalties that would be enacted upon a
medical staff who fails to honor any penal code in our set guidelines and
regulations.
To
enact the policy on confidentiality, legal procedures for reporting violation
cases would be stipulated among the health facility professionals and within
the legal guidelines and written constitutionally. The use of modern computing
which poses much risk to information confidentiality will require the services
of IT experts to provide secure connection and procedures among our databases
at contracted terms on annual basis. IT experts would moreover provide with
services to destroy sensitive information and provide a reliable database for
information that may be required for future reference in a secured manner.
To
sum it all I would assume my role to network with other medical institutions to
share such policies and keep updated with current trends as it pertain legality
in confidentiality. Concluding I would ensure that a comprehensive document is
written, approved, printed and distributed among the staff. All the staff would
be required to re-read and sign to the agreement, this step would be the last
step to creating a binding policy.
